3AF - June Learning in Action

WOW Week

Our wow week was full of lots of fun and exciting activities. We started the week with a capture the flag team game against 3KA, having to try and take their flag and treasure. We were gracious in defeat and it started our debate as to whether it is ever okay to steal? This was followed by a bug hunt in the forest area. We found lots of animals living in the forest and were able to compare these to animals in a rainforest later in the day as we created rainforest dioramas.

Later in the week we learnt more about our legend of Robin Hood. We had a debate as to whether it is okay to steal from the rich to give to the poor and created quivers and hats to become Robin Hood. At the end of wow week we travelled to Sherwood forest and took part in a den building activity and a walk around the forest learning the stories of Robin Hood and were able to see the Major Oak tree.

English

In English we have been reading more of The BFG. We have created instructions and we able to follow them to make our own Frobscottle drinks (some of us even whizzpopped). The BFG hates snozzcumbers, but in 3AF we made some and found them very tasty.

The 3AF classroom has even hosted tea between the Queen and The BFG. We created dialogue between the two characters and acted it out in front of the class.

Maths

In Maths we have been learning about fractions and angles. We headed outside to see how many angles we could find. You wouldn’t believe how many we could spot!

Science

In Science we have been learning the names of all of the parts of a flower and watching our sunflower seeds growing in the green house.
