As part of our learning about the oceans and the Greek myth of Poseidon, we experimented with puffy paint to see if we could create 3D paintings inspired by the ocean. It was great fun and very messy!

WOW Week

The focus for our WOW Week was the legend of Robin Hood. We started the week off with a capture the flag game in the forest area. It was 3KA against 3AF. 3KA won! The children worked together an managed to capture 3AF's flag and treasure chest, winning 1kg of golden chocolate coin for us all to share!

We had an amazing time at Sherwood Forest, it even stopped raining for the day!

Our visit included a forest walk led by Maid Marion where we found out all about the life of Robin Hood. However, shelter building was he most fun, where we needed to think about the size and structure of our shelters and how we could make them waterproof. We were amazed by the size of the Major Oak - a tree which is estimated to be more than 800 years old and is thought to be the hide out of Robin Hood. Maid Marion told us that around 50 people can hide inside the tree!

On the last day of WOW Week, we turned our hands to cooking recipes inspired by our learning on the BFG. We made Frobscottle and even managed to make some of the bubbles go down instead of up (with the help of LOTS of popping candy!). Some of the children made very loud whizzpops!

We also had a go at making our very own snozzcumbers. The ones the BFG describes sound disgusting, however, ours were delicious and we had great fun making them. We had to work as a team and use our growth mindset skills to overcome some tricky problems when making them.

JC Awards

To help celebrate the amazing news of Joseph Cash being nominated for a national teaching award, we held our own awards ceremony in honour of the amazing learning which takes place at school. Deniz won the 3KA award for her achievements in English, Siyena for her achievements in maths and Victry for her achievements in reading. Rawsh came third in the Lower KS2 Times Table Rock Stars competition.

Enterprise

We also decorated biscuits and sold them at the end of the school day, raising money for school funds. They were so popular that we had to make more the next day!
