Maths

In maths this month we have really enjoyed learning about shape! We have been calculating the area and perimeter of shapes, classifying a range of triangles and quadrilaterals and identifying and drawing lines of symmetry. We decided to take our learning out into the sunshine, where we created different angles with our bodies and drew symmetrical shapes with chalk on the playground!

We have finished reading our class book, Juana and Lucas, and did some wonderful newspaper reports about what happened when Astroman came to Earth! We have been learning about playscripts and worked in teams to write playscripts based on a part of the book. We tweeted this to Juana Medina (the author of the book) who was really impressed and tweeted us back! She told us that she would love to know more about Coventry, so in the poetry unit that we have just started, we are writing poems about Coventry that we can share with her. We have been inspires by Tony Walsh's poem about Manchester - 'This is the Place'. We are learning how to write rhyming couplets about what makes Coventry so special. You can watch the video of Tony Walsh's poem below - keep an eye out for ours!
