5AS May Blog
English
In English, we have written an excellent setting description about the Apartheid in South Africa based on our class text: Journey to Jo’burg.
“We had lots of fun predicting what is going to happen next in the text!” Jessie, 5AS
“We got to write our own setting description about Jo’burg; it was exciting to use all my punctuation and exciting vocabulary in a piece of writing.” Simran, 5AS
Maths
We have been completing some challenging learning on angles! We can work out the size of a missing angle based on our knowledge about: the degrees in a circle, the degrees in a straight line and the degrees in a right angle.
“I really like this maths topic because I have a good understanding and it was fun using protractors and solving problems together.” Umme, 5AS
“I liked this topic because I enjoyed completing my workbook; I enjoy Maths No Problem because it challenges me!” Fenton, 5AS
Topic
In topic, we have been geographers. We have explored where Anglo-Saxons came from on maps. We looked at how they divided Britain into seven kingdoms which were ruled by seven kings.
Debating
We completed a debate in the style of the House of Commons. We had lots of fun dressing up and using a real House of Common backdrop for our debate. Thank you Mrs Smith for ordering this excellent kit for us.
“Being a leader and making decisions in the House of Commons seems exciting and this seemed so realistic.” Freya, 5AS
“It was a wonderful experience to use the resources from the House of Commons.” Ameera, 5AS
