Arts' Week
During the first week of Spring term, we carried out our art and design project, linked to the theme 'Under
the Sea'. We had an exciting few days where we completed under art and design activities, including: stitching and sewing our own sea-life creatures, tie-dying our own fabric and sketching our own creatures.
First, we tied elastic bands around material and then we dyed the material. Next, we researched different sea creatures to decide what we wanted to make. We made a template out of paper which we then drew around onto felt, twice. After cutting out our sea creatures we then sewed the two pieces together. We stuffed our sea creature and sewed it to the tie dyed material. We then decorated the rest of the material. We are really proud of our finished designs and we hope you like them.
We also had the opportunity to have a physical theatre workshop from HighlySprung; we used movement and creativity to show the beauty of the ocean and the negative impacts of our plastic consumption.
English
As part of our English learning, we are currently reading Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Our first lesson began by demonstrating our passion for magic by making spells and potions and showcase our wizardry skills! We have also developed our writing, including: setting descriptions, diary entries and letters.
