6MG FEBRUARY LEARNING IN ACTION

SCIENCE

SCIENCE AFTERNOON

We launched our new topic ‘Evolution and Inheritance’ and learnt some fascinating facts about evolution and how plants and animals have had to adapt to survive. We learnt about the famous scientist ‘Charles Darwin’ and about his ‘theory of the species’. We carried out an experiment to learn about how animals have adapted to their environment to survive.

“We had so much fun. I found evolution so interesting” by Vara.

Rehaan added, “I really enjoyed learning outside. It was interesting to see which coloured worms we captured the most”.

 MATHS

Our focus this month has been Arithmetic, Fractions, Decimals and Percentages and reasoning.

We have started to look at reasoning questions and learnt how to solve some tricky problems.

ENGLISH

The King is dead!

We wrote newspapers report to share the tragic new – The death of King Duncan.

We applied lots of SPaG features to create some amazing newspaper reports

BRITISH VALUES

We had some amazing news this month! We received a letter from ‘The Houses of Parliament’ in response to our year 6 petition about the use of palm oil and the need to save the rain forest and its habitants. A big well done goes to Maryam and Karanjot for writing the letter and organising the school petition.
