6RS May learning in action

English

For English, we have continued to read the Anglo Saxon Boy.  We have started to explore the different characters and the plot of the book. We are going to use the ideas to write our own narratives in the style of the author. We are also going to be taking part in a live Skye session with Tony Bradman. We are so excited about this!

Aryan said, “I have really enjoyed reading the book because it uses a lot of the vocabulary that we have learnt about in our creative curriculum lessons.”

Creative Curriculum

We have been learning about the Viking Gods and the characteristics. We have also discussed how Vikings converted from paganism to Christianity over a short period of time.

Santiago commented, “I know what some of the Gods do because of their names. For example Sol means sun in Portuguese so I know she is the Goddess of the Sun.”

Art

We will be starting our Creative Curriculum topic of WW2 next term and what a better way to start an exploration than by visiting Coventry Cathedral!  We used this opportunity to develop our sketching skills and sketched different images of the Cathedral. We also got to do some outdoor learning for Art and used water colours to explore perspective.

Celebration of SATs

Well done everyone for a fantastic effort during SATs week! Everyone did their best and all the teachers are very proud!

To celebrate completing our SATs, we will be visiting the ‘Belgrade theatre’ to watch a performance of ‘Shrek’. We are so excited about watching this musical. Hopefully, this will give us lots of inspiration for our own performance.

Year 6 Performance

We have auditioned for our end of year production and the actors have been selected. We won’t spoil the surprise yet but well done to everyone who auditioned.
