Giraffe's can't dance but Reception can!

This week the children have shared the story, 'Giraffe's can't Dance'. They discussed the feelings of Gerald when the other animals in the jungle were laughing at him. The children have then been busy during their play to help Gerald out. They have been using the computer to imitate the dance moves on the screen and move their bodies in different ways. The children also used musical instruments to play alongside the music.

Elias has been busy making his own jungle animals using the popoids. He decided to build a zoo to keep them safe using the blocks. I love your label too!

The teachers have been so impressed with their children's art learning this week. The children have been inspired by our book and are painting the different characters from the story. They have been looking closely at the animal prints and using this when painting their own pictures. Bella really concentrated on her picture and spent a long time selecting the correct colours.

Charlie has been busy at the writing table labeling his picture of the giraffe.

Do you like my Giraffe?

The children have been sharing the story with each other and using the pictures to talk about what they think may come next. They have also been discussing what they are good at.

I'm good at dancing too!

The children have really impressed the teachers this week with their knowldge of 3D shapes. The children are able to identify different shapes and talk about their properties. They have had fun in our maths areas sorting the shapes into 2D and 3D and using talk to explain why!

In Maths this week, we are learning about capacity, height, weight and length!
