Hello 2019!

Well we started 2019 with three very exciting days of drawing and collaging during 'Arts Week'. Class 1NG learned all about 'observational drawing' and shading. We then designed and created our own 'under water mythical creatures'. On the final day we continued our observation drawing of plants that live in the sea. We learned that seaweed is one of the fastest producing plants in the world. It turns out 1NG can create collaged Sea weed just as fast as real seaweed. We made an enormous piece of seaweed that stretched right across the classroom. This now hangs in pride of place from the ceiling in our new, whole school corridor display, 'In the deep'.

In Maths we have been learning about addition and subtraction within 20! Wow! It made Miss Gibbs's brain hurt learning how to teach this in a new way. The teachers are always learning new things, just like children! We have been investigating and learning all about Materials in Science and the children have really enjoyed learning all about Mary Seacole and Florence Nightingale in  our Creative Curriculum. They have been really interested in what these two amazing women achieved. Ask them what they have learned! In English we have been learning the story 'The Three Billy Goats Gruff' we can re-tell it using a range of actions which will help us when we come to write it very soon!

January has whizzed by! We have been so busy learning. Miss Gibbs is busy organising a trip to visit a 'Sculpture Trail' after the half term holiday. We will tell you more about it on our next blog! The 'worlds fastest growing collage seaweed in the world' :)
