March in action

Year 2, have had lots of exciting trips, visitors and inspiring PE lessons in March.

Some of us went to the Excel Centre, for an agility morning and participated in PE activities. Then others went to Warwick University for a science day. This was a fantastic opportunity as we got to see what life is like in University. We got to experience being scientists and we wore white coats and used microscopes to look at the insects we found in the woods.  We also had a visitor called 'Brian' from the Herbert Art Gallery, to talk to us and show us toys from the Victorian times. We got to dress as Victorian children and play with the toys that they had when Queen Victoria was in rein.  Aswell as all that,  we also had a Jewish visitor 'Ros' who came into school to help us learn more about the Jewish celebration of Passover. She bought in, ingredients they have from a Passover meal and told us the significance of these foods. We had learnt about the Passover in class but this opportunity enabled us to build on our learning and make it real.

In maths we have been consolidating our learning on column method for addition and subtraction so keep practising this skill at home! And we are using it to help us solve money problems. In English we are beginning a new topic. We are using Horrid Henry as a tool to inspire us.

Over the last few weeks in our PE lessons we have had a CCFC coach 'Mr Spence' teaching us our ABC's. We were really lucky because on Thursday he bought three Coventry City players in to see us. Were were very excited (particularly Mrs Davies).
