Nursery- January Learning in Action

Wow! Nursery have been very busy doing loads of amazing learning since starting back in the New Year.

Week 1 - Whatever Next!

We listened carefully to the story Whatever Next by Jill Murphy. We loved the part when Baby Bear flies to the moon.

When looking at the book again in the reading corner Noah said:

He need to find rocket first. A box under the stairs."

Week 2- We're Going on a Bear Hunt

We have loved listening and joining in with the actions to the Bear Hunt story. We are listening more carefully and are beginning to join in with repeated refrains such as "We can't go under it, we can't go over it. Oh no! We've got to go through it!"

We had a go at making our own bear masks in the Workshop area. A lot of us had a go at retelling the story on the lightbox using pictures of the characters. When we went outside we went on our own bear hunt, pretending to splash through the water and squelch through the mud!

This week our story is Norman the Slug With the Silly Shell by Sue Hendra. We loved listening to this story, especially the part when Norman tries to find his own shell.

Can you remember what he uses in the end?

We are going to have a try at painting our own shells for Norman using fine paintbrushes. We are also practising our mark making and representing numbers.

Every week Mrs Ward adds our learning to a whole class display, take a look at it so far:

We have also been talking about being a kind friend in Nursery. In our base time groups we made a friendship web:

We have been so busy in January!
