Nursery's June Learning

Week one: Mrs Honey's Hat

Our story during week one was Mrs Honey's Hat. She loses items from the top of her hat throughout the week but doesn't realise until the end of the story. We designed our own hats in the workshop and there were lots of different hats for us to try on in the role play area!

Week two: Room on the broom

Our story for week two was room on the broom. This story has lots of pages, but we are able to sit and listen carefully for much longer now! There was lots of different activities out for us to explore in the classroom this week including a cutting and sticking activity to make a new broomstick in the workshop. We enjoyed wearing witches' hats and retelling parts of the story. Our favourite activity this week was potion making in the water area. The water was green! We made lots of different potions and used our imagination. Kacie said:

We're making a magic potion. It's all green and glittery! We need to stir it up. We're really good witches, mine has spider webs in it and it's gonna turn people into witches or zombies!

Week three: The tiger who came to tea

At the start of week three Nursery found a tiger in the classroom with a letter!

The tiger told us that he was hungry and has wandered into our classroom looking for something to eat and drink. Mrs Ward then asked to think about what we would make for the tiger if he came to our house for tea. We came up with lots of ideas:

A cup of coffee and an Easter egg.

Chicken and noodles.

Strawberries for the tiger.

Pancakes.

After we shared our ideas we wrote them down! We are all able to give meanings to our marks now and we are trying really hard to form letters too.

There was also a vets in the role play where we could look after the poorly animals and we had teabags and teapots in the water area. Take at look at more of our tiger learning:

Week four: Sammy the guinea pig

This week we are learning all about animals, pets and guinea pigs. We listened carefully to this week's story and tried to work out why Sammy the guinea pig was feeling sad. Some of us thought he was he was hungry, come of us thought she was sick, but in the end it turned out that Sammy was feeling lonely and felt much better when the children in the book gave him cuddles.

Mrs Ward told us that her guinea pigs will be visiting Nursery later in the week. We watched a video and learnt all the things that guinea pigs need to be happy: food, water, hay, vegetables and cuddles!

We had a go at writing a letter to the guinea pigs to let them know how excited we are about them coming to visit!

We will add more pictures to Twitter when the guinea pigs arrive!

Also this month the whole school got to take part in a special celebration to say well done for all our hard work. Mrs Nelson and Mrs Scott handed out prizes and treats and it was great fun to celebrate in the hall!
