Royal Reception

This week started off with a very special message from The Queen. The children talked about who the Queen was and what she did and then we read a rather funny story all about 'The Queen's Knickers'.

The children were motivated to go and explore all of our royal challenges in the environment. The Queen set the children a challenge to write a sentence about what they would do if they were the queen or king for a day.

The children (and teachers) had the most wonderful ideas about what they would do,

I would have my own aeroplane!

Said Poppy!

Kaniska went off to write a sentence about having a magic badge if she were the queen (see above). Mrs Nettey asked her what her magic badge would do,

It would talk to me all of the time!

That does sound like a great idea. You would never be lonely!

Melissa had the best idea by saying that 'Mrs Nettey is a queen' although Miss Trodden disagreed!

The children have been using their imagination to dress up as kings, queens and knights.

Elias and Aryas also spent a long time looking through books and researching on google to find out all about castles. They used the pictures to support their own creation of a castle and then designed it on paper before going off to build it.

I need my tower to be a cuboid shape!

They even labelled their pictures and used other resources from the workshop area to create with. Super independent learning boys!

Bella and Aylannah decided to create their own version of 'The Queen's Knickers' ready for the sequel :)

In Maths this week the children are learning all about doubling. They have been taught about how to quickly find doubles using their fingers, paints and resources. The children have been practising this skill in the Maths area by doubling the dots on the ladybirds to support them in finding the answer.

They have created their own butterfly pictures too to show how easy it is to double a number.

Make sure that you look in their journals to find out how they have got on!
