Art Week

During the first week of term we had an exciting few days where we completed under the sea themed activities. We stitched and sewed our own sea life creates, tie-died our own fabric and sketched our own creatures. We also had the opportunity to have a physical theatre workshop from HighlySprung; we used movement and creativity to show the beauty of the ocean and the negative impacts of our plastic consumption.

English

In English, we are currently reading Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. We began this unit by exploring and making our own exciting potions during an English lesson. We have developed our writing by writing: setting descriptions, diary entries and letters.

I enjoyed making potions because we got to find out if people had BIG secrets!

I have enjoyed writing diary entries because it helped me to improve my handwriting.

I have enjoyed completing my challenges in English because I get to use my Joseph Cash value and push myself.

Maths

In maths, we have been exploring multiplication, division and using this knowledge to complete word problems.

I am working hard to get better at my times tables and it is helping me with my division and multiplication.

I liked doing division because I am very good at it!

 Topic

In topic, we have been learning about the story of Romulus and Remus and how the Roman Empire was formed. We have started to attend Art sessions at Barrs Hill to make our own clay tiles based on this story.

Barrs Hill is really fun. We have been able to experience things we haven’t done before.

It has been nice learning about the story of Romulus and Remus because we got to experience the story through drama during out topic lessons.
