A busy December - Little Ribbons!
W.B 30th November
What a lovely start to December we have had; the children have started to notice how cold it is outside so we have begun to talk about all things cold!
Our story this week is Winter by Ailie Busby
We have been talking about what we can see in the pictures;
"Snowman!" Says Laith
"Funny hat" Theo laughs
Do you like snow?
What colour is it?
What does it feel like?
The children have been making their own snowmen with play dough - Mrs Coleman is super impressed with them :)
Do you like our amazing snowflakes as well? We have been making our fingers and hands strong, by spreading the pritt stick and placing on the sequins. The children concentrated and used their fine motor skills to pick up the sequins and place them where they wanted on the snowflake.
Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree!
It was so much fun decorating our Christmas Tree this week. The children all took turns to place on the baubles and wear a Christmas Santa hat for a photo!
Lots of messy fun
Little Ribbons have been using their senses to explore the paint; watching it move across the cling film and change colours.
W.B 7th December
Christmas is in full swing in Little Ribbons and the story we are focussing on this week is 'Dear Santa' by Rod Campbell.
This has engaged the children's attention with finding out what is hidden under the flaps. The children are already very good at remembering what was hidden under each.
What did Santa leave as a present?
"It's a kitten" said Eva
"a ball!" said Aminata
"car" Willow shouts
We have been enjoying lots of festive activities, including; making Christmas cards, exploring a Christmas tuff spot, a post office, including parcel wrapping, and we have made a festive window! The children were excited to see a 'real' igloo as well; we explored and investigated it using torches!
Ho, ho, ho Merry Christmas!
Can you spot some of Santa's helpers?
Miss Bullingham made a sleigh for the children to ride in -
'Oh what fun it is to ride on a one horse open sleigh!'
Do you like our Christmas window?
Gross Motor Development
It has been so lovely to get outside when it hasn't been too cold for the children. They have all been amazing at showing the school values - 'Showing resilience' and 'Never giving up', when trying their hardest to pedal bikes, balance on the balance bikes and sharing and taking turns with their friends.
Week Beginning 14th December
Our Christmas story this week is 'We're going on an Elf Chase' by Martha Mumford and Laura Hughes.
Little Ribbons children love stories with a 'lift the flap'
so the teachers thought this Christmas book was perfect!
Throughout the week this has been a firm favourite Christmas book. There have been squeals of excitement as we've lifted the flaps to find all of Santa's Elves!
Reindeers!
We had such a magical surprise on Wednesday - Santa, his Elves and Reindeer came to visit us!! We went out onto the big field and got to see REAL Reindeer!
Party Time!
Little Ribbons Christmas Party!
We had lots of party food and did some disco dancing!
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR
