April Learning in Action

Maths

In maths this month we have been extending our knowledge of division and tackling our new topic of fractions. The children worked really hard to grasp the concepts which were a little tricky at first!

Resilient Ronnie helped us to persevere and towards the end of the topic, we all became more confident at solving problems.

English

In English we have continued our class text 'Who Let the Gods out' by Maz Evans. The children have loved learning about the new  characters and their adventures with Eliot in his quest to solve his problems at home and save the world! We have invented our own gods and created magical settings for their adventures which we described in our hot write.

Science

In science we have loved learning about our new topic of light. We have learnt about sources of light and really enjoyed having fun with mirrors, we even tried using them to write backwards!

Creative Curriculum

4KT have loved learning about Ancient Greece and we are really sad to leave it and but we are excited to start our new  new topic: Around the World.

We have covered so may aspects of life in Ancient Greece and finished our studies with learning about the Trojan Wars. The children listened to the story then, in groups, they retold the story to the class in freeze frames.

PE - Rugby Training

We have now finished our 6 week rugby training with the coaches from CV Life. The children have loved learning new skills both in the classroom and out on the rugby field and many have now joined our after school tag rugby club. The class have worked well together to improve their teamwork and communication skills as this fun activity shows:

Ask your child to explain what they were doing!

We also had great fun practising our rugby skills out on the pitch and some children took part in a festival of tag rugby at Old Coventrians RFC where they were able to play matches against other classes.

Thrive and PHSE

4KT have really enjoyed our thrive and PSHE sessions this month. Mrs Thompson set the class a challenge; to teach and learn a brand new skill another child. They were assigned groups at random and given a week to teach and learn a skill. The children did amazingly well and we were overwhelmed by the range of new skills they acquired!

These included: new languages, songs, tricks, games, jokes and many other exciting things!
