Governors in Action Tuesday 11th December

The Governors meeting started with Hannah Skelton, Deputy Head from Ernesford Grange, presenting on her impact with debating with KS2 children. Governors were really impressed with how confident the children were in using their English texts to justify their opinions. Hannah explained the new relationship established between Joseph cash and Ernesford Grange and how excited the children were to work alongside others from a different school. We look forward to see how this develops over the next year!

Grace and Stepan have been for Governor Training this weekend and have fed back all of their knowledge to the governing body. They are looking forward to working with the other governors, staff and children this year!

Mrs Nelson informed governors of the context of our school in Autumn Term; looking at gender split, ethnicity and  attendance. She also shared data from the ASP and IDSR from last year's results in KS1 and KS2. Helen shared all of the activities that children across the school have experienced in our first term; visits to church, bikeability, debating club, camps, Coventry market, swimming to name a few! Governors were really pleased with the updates on the school twitter page and how informative it has been.

Mrs Scott shared our new vision with the creative curriculum planning and teaching using the words; intent, implement and impact. She discussed the changes to ensure that our children can use their knowledge over time and apply the skills learnt to other areas of school and home life;

Autumn Term: We are Historians

Spring Term: We are Innovators

Summer Term: We are Geographers

What are we giving emphasis to and why?

Mrs Nelson shared the vision of '50 things to do before leaving Joseph Cash' and how this relates to enrichment and the curriculum.

Mrs Nelson discussed how we are trying to engage parents and the community. Parents Evening was well-attended with the child leading the meeting,

92.2% of parents felt that their child was happy at Joseph Cash :)

'Rise and Shine' in EYFS and KS1 in the morning.

'Learning together' with parents in KS2 - an opportunity for parents to learn with their child during a lesson.

Mrs Nettey shared the success of the EYFS quality mark and how he praised the school for all that they have done for the children in Early Years.

There is a welcoming ethos from the moment you enter the School. Everyone with whom I spoke commented on the positive ethos within the Early Years and numerous comments were made about the friendly atmosphere, smiling faces and the fun
experience in all aspects of school life. The children benefit greatly from a committed Leadership team and motivated staff. All stakeholders have a sense of belonging to the school and inclusion is well embraced so that each child is valued for their
uniqueness and talent and can participate in a range of challenging, fulfilling and happy educational experiences to reach their full potential.

Joseph Cash have now secured the quality mark.

Mrs Nelson shared the review from a recent external inspection carried out in November by Mr Western,

Pupils attitudes and behaviour during the visit was exemplary

Mrs Nelson was very excited to share the new website to be launched on Monday. She highlighted how the website can be more informative for the children and parents.

Manjit commented,

As a working parent, I think it is excellent! I can go on the website and find out all the information!

Teachers will be updating their class blogs at least monthly to inform parents of the learning that has taken place over the month.

Bagels... Every child in Reception to Year 6 has a bagel each morning at school! Governors were really impressed!
