Learning in Action December

Wow- What an exciting week in Reception on the run up to our amazing Nativity Performance. This week the children have got to explore the Nativity story in depth. We shared the story and also discussed where we can find information from, Elienor informed us,

We can go on to Google

The children have been busy helping us decorate our classroom. They have been adding baubles to the tree and have really perfected their wrapping skills to wrap presents for under our tree. The children have been independent in selecting their own resources and are really beginning to understand about how much wrapping paper they are going to need for each sized object.

The children have been really creative and have made their own reindeers using sticks, twigs and googly eyes. They have been thinking carefully about how they can going two pieces together and what would be the best resource to make it stick. Leda spent a long time creating hers and it is now on display in our classroom for everyone to see.

We've also been practising our phonics and we've had to search for stars in the sand pit to see if we could identify each sound. There were some really tricky ones in there but Harley was an expert,

Mine says ch sound

In Maths, we have been learning all about estimating. We know that estimating means that we have to guess the number but we have also been perfecting our counting skills by checking to see if our estimations were close.

Karshin predicted their were 16 cubes and then checked and realised that there were 20. Wow- that was pretty close!

Everyday now we are perfected our nativity performance. You are going to be so proud!
