November in Little Ribbons
Week Beginning 2nd November
Our story this week is 'Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?' By Bill Martin
We will be reading it everyday in support our learning of colours.
Some of our Little Ribbons have even had a go at making their own play dough bears with googly eyes!
How many eyes has your bear got?
Autumn Leaves
Autumn has definitely hit the EYFS garden and we have all embraced it by having fun in the leaves :)
This gave us the opportunity to introduce new language as well:
Crunchy
Leaf
Wind
Blow
Red, Green, Yellow, Brown, Orange
"It's raining" Ava says as she throws the leaves into the air and watches them fall
Fire Works!
Whizz, Bang, Pop....! Look at the amazing firework pictures the children have made using paint and toothbrushes to spread the paint. This activity really captivated their interest as they explored how the colours mixed and moved across the paper.
"wow!" said Laith
"I mixing" said Willow
"Rainbow" Rawen says indicating he would like to make a firework picture :)
Week Beginning 9th November
This week our story is 'Kitchen Disco' by Clare Foges and Al Murphy
This has been used as a hook for learning with lots of exciting activities in the environment. We have fruit stencils with different colour play dough to sort and match, a fruit tasting activity, a posting activity to support schemas with healthy and unhealthy food cards and a doctors surgery. The children have already been highly engaged, take a look!
What is your favourite fruit? Can you name its colour?
Maybe you could try some fruit tasting at home and send in your home learning for Mrs Coleman to see.
Here is a link for you to listen to the story on youtube:
Week Beginning 23rd November
It has been so lovely being back in Little Ribbons this week. The children have been amazing; they are confident and happy and seem so grown up! We got stuck straight back in with our learning through play; take a look!
We have continued our 'Kitchen Disco' theme, alongside a doctors surgery. The children are so good at making their friends and teachers better :)
We LOVE our new post box, this is really supporting all the 'posting' schemas in Little Ribbons! We have been thinking about what foods are healthy and not so good for us and using the post box to post all things healthy. Can you remember what pictures were good for us and ones we shouldn't have quite so much of?
Lets Get Messy!
The corn flour has been a hit: it really caught the childrens attention as they explored how it felt and moved around the tuff spot.
