Nursery's learning in April

Week one- Plunge into the pirate pool

Nursery had lots of fun learning all about pirates this week. In our story Albie goes on an adventure with pirates in a shark submarine looking for treasure. We talked about how Albie is the main character in the story and how the story's setting is under the sea. Lots of us decided to make our own pirate hats, we can use tools such as scissors and hole punchers with much more confidence and which much better control now! In the deconstructed role play a few of us chose to make our own pirate ships using boxes, fabric and poles. There was a pirate ship and gold coins in the water area, a pirate shape game in the maths area and treasure maps in the writing area. Lots of piratey fun!

Week two- We're going on an egg hunt

This week Nursery's story was all about going on an Easter egg hunt, we noticed it was very similar to a story we have listened to before! We talked about Easter and who celebrates it. On Thursday we made some delicious Easter cakes using melted chocolate, shredded wheat and mini eggs. Mrs Ward was so impressed with how well we listened and followed instructions. We took it in turns to mix the ingredients in a big bowl before placing them in cake cases. Finally the best part... we got to taste the cakes and they were delicious! On Friday Nursery took part in the annual Easter Bonnet Parade. We all looked fantastic in our bonnets and it was so lovely to see so many parents watching too.

We're all feeling refreshed and full of energy again after a two week break and we're looking forward to doing lots more amazing learning in our final term of Nursery!
