Reception November in Action

Evil pea invades Reception

Reception arrived into school on Monday to discover that the vegetables had all been tied up.

Who could have done such a thing?

Reception began to investigate... They predicted that it must have been Miss Baker. Mrs Nettey and Mrs Johnson agreed BUT then we received a message from 'The Evil Pea'.

Luckily, there was a Supertato about to save the day! The children shared the story 'Supertato' by Sue Hendra and were really inspired to explore the challenges in our environment.

We started off by predicting the end of the story, Hadya believed that Supertato could 'save the day' and she was right!

Mannat and Sara spent a long time designing their own Supertato's using the real vegetables. They carefully poked the toothpicks  for the arms and the legs and lettuce for their capes.

Throughout the week, the children kept on finding those naughty peas around our classroom, so we decided to make our own 'Pea Jail' to keep them safe. They used sticky labels to make up names for their pea to keep a record of who we had in jail,

My Pea is called Kabinaya like me!

Nora and Osmond designed their own cages to trap the evil pea and then decided to use the blocks in the construction area. The children also had lots of fun 'selling' vegetables from our Grocery shop and spent a long time writing shopping lists and receipts for purchases.

My vegetables cost £5

Said Aylannah!

The teachers set the children a challenge to free the vegetables who had been frozen in ice! Melissa, Poppy and Ali realised that they could use warm water to melt the ice! What a great team!

We have learnt so much this week and have had so much fun!
